Red Dead Redemption

Rockstar's western epic — a two-game, three-era saga about outlaws, loyalty, and the closing of the American frontier.

Red Dead Redemption

Red Dead Redemption is Rockstar's most patient franchise. Only two mainline entries, separated by nearly a decade, and each one defined the open-world genre in its moment. The first game sent John Marston through a dying west in 2010 and ended with one of gaming's most-cited closing sequences. The second gave that ending its context, rewinding to the final years of the Van der Linde gang.

What makes Red Dead stand apart from Rockstar's other output is its restraint. Where GTA revels in chaos, Red Dead leans on silence, long rides, and conversation. It's a western by people who have watched a lot of westerns and know when to let the landscape speak.

The hub covers both mainline entries, the legacy of Red Dead Online, and the ongoing question of whether a third game is coming — and what it would have to look like if it did.
