Hitman
IO Interactive's stealth-sandbox series — social stealth, emergent disguises, and levels that feel more like systems than stages.

Hitman is one of the few major stealth series that genuinely uses its sandboxes. Each level is a city block, a resort, a gala, a Romanian village — each one dense with guards, civilians, routines, disguises, and a handful of intersecting plans for how Agent 47 might leave with the target dead and his reputation intact.
Blood Money crystallised the formula. Absolution tried to twist it into a linear thriller and lost a lot of people. The 2016 reboot — and its successors now bundled as World of Assassination — pulled the series back to its roots, then iterated on them with uncommon confidence.
This hub covers reviews of the modern trilogy, a retrospective on Blood Money, and the broader case for Hitman as one of the best sandbox-design studies in the medium.
